BOULEVARD VALVE AMPDIY Tube Guitar amp

This is an all tube Guitar amp built into an old projection monitor from the fifties. The paint scheme is my own. The front panel is a photo of the boulevard where I reside. The panel is lit from above by a cold cathode flourescent lamp. There is one input that goes to two separate gain controls , one brite, one darker. These two can mixed, to achieve different tones. There is also a switch to add briteness to the Brite channel, a Tone stack, a Presence control, and a Master Volume.

The back opens up to reveal the amplifier. The vintage 25 watt Alnico speaker can also be seen. The gray metal box on the side, houses the power supply for the cold cathode fluorescent that lights up the front panel .DIY Tube Guitar amp

A closer view of the back reveals the test points for the Bias adjustment , the fuses for the main and HT circuits and the impedance selector switch. I used a ten turn 100k pot for the bias adjustment pot, that is accessed through a hole in the back, with a screwdriver. This makes setting the Bias a breeze.

Here's a view of the bottom showing the internal workings of the amp. Turret boards are the way to go, for this sort of thing. At the top, the skinny little florescent tube ,is mounted on standoffs.

Overall, a very nice sounding little amp. A decidedly Marshall like tone. The two 6V6s put out about 20 watts, but this thing is plenty loud!  Pretty  quiet too,not bad for my first amp, from scratch.
