DIY single-ended tube HiFi amp

This is a stereo single-ended power amp, that I threw together,to run our kitchen speakers. It is based on the 6V6 HiFi Photo Essay found on the BoozHound Labs website.

It's a 5watt amp using a 6SN7 driver and 6V6 power tubes, both of which I seem to have a lot of lay'n around.     DIY single-ended tube HiFi amp

It was made entirely from scavenged parts, or parts I had in stock, except for the 5watt SE output trannies, I bought those fromTriode Electronics . I put a little RCA jack on the back that sends a preamp signal to the Sub-woofer, so it also, is turned up or down from the front Volume control.

The sides are made from solid oak from an old oak cabinet. The choke is from an old radio.  The chassis is a cut down Bogen tube amp, the knob is vintage heathkit; painted with that new fangled Krylon plastic spray paint. I employed a yellow paint pen to render all the panel markings.

Comments: It has a very open and transparent sound, maybe a little dry,but it's still being broken in. Really nice for Classical & Reggae.

5watts is plenty loud for the kind of listening done in the kitchen area. The amp is super quiet, too. I am still going to upgrade the coupling caps to Angela's Tin & oil capacitors.
