Gheidra
Six Channel tube Amp
This is a six channel
tube amplifier built for a multizone office space. It is a 1 watt per
channel Single Ended amp. It uses a 6ea7/6em7 dual triode tube;
essentially ,1/2 a 12ax7 and a 2a3. It looks rather large in the
picture, but is really only 24" wide by about 10" deep. I named it after
a
three headed monster from a Godzilla film. I changed the spelling from
Ghidora to a more Americanized pronuceation.
Key features are:
Multitap torodial transformer, for low EMF & high efficiency.
Solid state rectifier with a standby switch and inrush current limiter
for increased reliability.
Each preamp section decoupled with high voltage Polyester capacitors
for long cap life, good channel isolation and yummy sound.
All electrolitic capacitors ,in the signal chain, are Elna RFS Silmic
II
audio
caps with a silk fiber dielectric,to provide the most neutral sound
,and to avoid the coloration
asscociated with electrolitic caps.
All other other capacitors in the audio circuit are high quality paper
in oil types, for smooth highend & detailed midrange reproduction.
Each Channel has it's own volume control, and each channel has a
seperate 4 and 8 ohm speaker jack .
The side panels are solid oak,
stained ebony and sealed with a hard gloss varithane finish. The metal
work sports a green hammer tone paint job.
The power cable is a standard IEC type with a built in
noise & RF filter. There are two fuses on the back, one for the main
power supply ,one for the B+ section, to reduce the possibilty of
output tranny damage ;should an output tube short out.
The amp, as it is pictured now, needs to be wired up and details added
like channel labeling, etc.
