TIMEWELL
Spring Reverb
Here is a spring reverb I built ,for a sound engineer friend of
mine.He was frustrated by the constant break downs ,of the Tube based
reverbs,he was touring with,& wanted a more reliable solid
state spring verb.
I
chose the Hot Springs Reverb;a circuit designed by the legendary Craig
Anderton,& sold as a kit ,by Paia. I wanted to build the thing
into
an old radio, but had some bad luck in acquiring one,as one was
completely destroyed ,in shipping ,& others ,I was outbid on.
So I
decided to construct my own retro radio looking case. The front input is
an amp simulator by Runoff
groove. It is designed to plug a guitar right into the
front. The signal is processed through the amp simulator ,then the
spring reverb,& finally the reverb is processed through a
Phaser, which can be mixed in or out ,as prefferd .

This is the rough sketch
that started the whole project.

Here
is the solid oak peice that will serve as the front of the enclosure A
hole is added ,that will later accommodate a mini Plasma ball. display.
Here
is a better front view,Next ,I will add a walnut detail ,to
the
center, before building the rest of the wooden enclosure.

Here is the metal pan that houses the various circuits that make up
this device .The two reverb tanks reside on top...

And a bottom view...The power supply is built in & all the
outputs are buffered.

With the Plasma ball installed & a view of the back end...It
has both balenced & unbalenced ,wet & dry outputs.
Here it is after staining & countless coats of shellac.

Closer view of front panel. The amp simulator is a clone of the Fender
Tweed circuit.Clean to dirty blues/rock tones can be had,The Fazer
section can add sutle color to the reverb sound or outlandish swooshing
sounds.
